Poetry programs at the Ferguson library Mark your calendar for a weekend of poetry at the Ferguson Library Saturday, March 27-Sunday, March 28. Elizabeth Thomas, poet and coach of the Connecticut National Youth Poetry Slam Team, will conduct a poetry slam workshop Saturday, March 27 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Main Library. On Sunday, March 28 at 2 p.m., Thomas shares her own work at the library's Poet's Voice program. Readings to follow from poetry slam workshop students. Main Library. AARP tax-aide Trained tax counselors from AARP Tax-Aide will provide free tax counseling Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through April 14 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Ferguson Library's Harry Bennett Branch, and Mondays, 4-7 p.m. and Saturdays, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Weed Memorial & Hollander Branch. There will be no programs Monday, Feb. 15, since the Library is closed for President's Day. AARP Tax-Aide provides free tax assistance to low and middle income taxpayers, with special attention to those 60 and older. No appointment is needed. Learn to speak English The Ferguson Library's Let's Talk English Conversation classes continue this winter at the Main Library and South End Branch. These weekly drop-in classes offer free conversation for English language learners. They are run by volunteers who help participants practice their English in an informal setting.
