Superb songwriting has always been a hallmark for the Acoustic Celebration concerts. This weekend's show is no exception. Tom Kimmel, who performs at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Ridgefield series, is a Nashville-based songwriter whose originals have been recorded by the likes of Roger McGuinn, Levon Helm, Shawn Colvin, Randy Travis, Maura O'Connell and Joe Cocker. He was a New Folk winner at the Kerrville Folk Festival in 1993, an honor he earned right after he toured the world as opening act for Nanci Griffith. Kimmel is an Alabama native and is also a student of Siddha Yoga Meditation. He shares his songwriting talents in classes and seminars and was an artist-in-residence in Music and Religion in the South Group at Vanderbilt University in Nashville in 2008. His latest release, "Never Saw Blue" from 2008, is an anthology of his songs featured in film and television. He also has a volume of poetry, "The Sweetest & the Meanest," published in 2005. Sunday's concert takes place in the library of Temple Shearith Israel, 46 Peaceable St., in Ridgefield. Tickets are $20 at the door, $15 in advance. Call (203) 431-6501 or visit www.acousticcelebration.org Great songs will also be heard this weekend on the stage of the Klein Memorial Auditorium in Bridgeport when the Fab Faux headline at 8 p.m. Saturday. This Beatles cover band is made of a very talented bunch of players including Will Lee from the David Letterman band and Jimmy Vivino formerly from the Conan O'Brien show. The Fab Faux's repertoire is known for its commitment to accuracy and can sound as if the real Fab Four were playing the songs live. Tickets are $77 and $44. The Klein is located at 910 Fairfield Ave. in Bridgeport. The show is presented by the Fairfield Theatre Company. At FTC's StageOne stage in Fairfield, Hot House Flowers headlines tonight at 7:30 p.m. Their new one is "Into Your Heart," their fifth studio effort. Leroy Justice opens. Tickets are $22. Honey Boy Edwards and Rocky Lawrence play the blues at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $47. The Subdudes rock the house New Orleans style at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Tickets are $57. The Quick Center for the Arts has veteran tunesmith Leon Redbone at 8 p.m. Saturday. Redbone, with his trademark Panama hat and dark sunglasses, is known for reprising songs from the ragtime era, adding a contemporary twist along the way. He has more than 15 albums out in the course of a career that spans three decades. The Quick Center for the Arts is located on the campus of Fairfield University. Tickets are $40, $35, and $30. One other songwriter of note coming to the area is Andrew Vladeck, who opens for folk veterans Brewer & Shipley tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Edmond Town Hall Theater, 45 Main St., in Newtown. Vladeck is a banjo player, guitarist whose "The Songs you Inspire" won first place in the Int'l Songwriting Competition. He's also a founding member of the The Honey Brothers, whose drummer is actor Adrian Grenier, from the hit HBO television series "Entourage." The show benefits WPKN radio. Tickets are $35.
