Pierre Saint excels at New England's

NEW HAVEN -- Stamford High wrestler Ben Pierre Saint went 3-2 at the New England Championship meet on Friday and Saturday, March 5-6, at the New Haven Athletic Center.

Pierre Saint, a sophomore, lost his first match to eventual fourth-place finisher Kyle Visconti of Malden Cath, Mass., by a 10-2 major decision.

Pierre Saint then reeled off three straight wins in the consolation rounds, including a 2-0 decision over Brandon Spinosa of Shawsheen, Mass., a 6-2 decision over Josh Pomerleau of Lisbon, Maine, and a 7-2 decision over Kurt Henderson of Greater Lowell, Mass.

Needing one more win to place in the top six, Pierre Saint lost to eventual third-place finisher Matt Buco of Great Lawrence, Mass., by a 7-3 decision.

Pierre Saint rounds out a tremendous sophomore campaign, in which he placed second in the FCIAC and Class LL and was third at the State Open, with a 46-12 overall record.
