Stamford shuts out Bridgeport

Staff reports

The Stamford FC U-18 girls soccer team won its first game of the indoor season with a 3-0 victory over the Bridgeport Diablos.

Stamford FC got on the board 30 seconds into the game on a penalty kick by Amanda Vakos after an FC player was tripped in the box.

Vakos scored again just before the half ended on a header following a perfect throw-in by Morgan Ilaw.

In the second half, Sarah Hartford finished the scoring with a goal from 30 yards out off an assist by Annick Thompson.

In her first outing with the team, newcomer Lainey Sidell had a solid game, along with defender Michelle Rojas and midfielder Erin George.

Goalkeeper Alexa Bitetto recorded the shutout.
