Huskies to play for championship

Staff reports The Stamford Huskies seventh grade boys travel basketball team won two exciting games in the playoffs to advance to the championship game. After completing the regular season as the 'B' Division champions with a 14-2 overall record, the Huskies were moved up to the 'A' Division playoff tournament, where they knocked off two of the top seeded 'A' teams. Stamford Huskies 60, Greenwich Flame 59 After leading by one at halftime, Stamford found itself down by 10 in the fourth quarter. The Huskies fought back with great defense and clutch shooting to find themselves with the ball, down by one, with 16 seconds remaining. Tyrell St. John made the game-winning basket with 3.9 seconds left on the clock. Stamford was led offensively by St. John (22 points), Jeremiah Livingston (15 points) and Jorden Young (12 points). In addition, Jalen Latta added eight points and Sean Morris hit a big 3-pointer during the fourth-quarter rally. Ross Levensohn and Billy Devito led the strong defensive effort for the Huskies. Stamford Huskies 58, Danbury PAL 42 In the semifinal game, Stamford was able to build an 18-point lead by halftime using its signature defense. The Huskies continued to shoot the ball very well in the second half to secure the win and earn a berth in the championship game next weekend. Stamford was led offensively by Jorden Young (17 points), Jalen Latta (11 points) and Tyrell St. John (10 points). Peter Horn and Jeremiah Livingston added eight points apiece. Justin Chase and JP Loughran also contributed offensively.
