Trinity 7th grade boys hoops advances to FCBL finals

Staff reports The seventh grade Trinity Catholic boys basketball team went 3-0 to advance to the finals of the Fairfield County Basketball League (FCBL) Tournamen recently. Trinity Catholic will play the Greenwich Boys & Girls Club for the championship on Saturday, March 13 at 3:50 p.m. in Shelton. In their first game, the Sabres defeated New Canaan 34-23. Trinity was led by Luis Gonzalez and Zach Baines, who scored eight points apiece. Tim Noone chipped in with seven points and Sam Ruzzi added four points. Jahlani Gudger and Liam Butler played well defensively. Trinity then won its quarterfinal game, against New Canaan again, 43-32. Billy Blau led a balanced scoring attack with 10 points. Sam Ruzzi, Tim Noone, and Zach Baines each had eight points and Paul Lombardi added three. PJ Duddie and Eamon Sweeney led the defensive charge. Trinity then defeated Fairfield PAL 41-27 to advance to the championship game. The Sabres were led by Tim Noone (13 points), Zach Baines (nine points) and Billy Blau and Luis Gonzalez (four points apiece). Billy Schreiber and Matt Fraioli played well defensively.
