Stamford FC suffers tough loss to AC Caldo
Posted on 03/03/2010
Staff reports The Stamford FC girls U-18 soccer team opened up its winter indoor season with a hard-fought 2-1 loss to AC Caldo. Playing for the first time since November, the team was a little rusty and its passing was not as crisp as it usually is. Amanda Vakos got the scoring started with three minutes left in the first half off a free kick from Morgan Ilaw. The FC girls came out strong in the second half, with a 6-3 shots on goal advantage, only to be thwarted numerous times by the AC Caldo goalkeeper. AC Caldo scored on a free kick from just outside the goal box and again with six minutes to go on a nice cross from the side that allowed an AC player to chip the ball just past goalkeeper Alexa Bitetto. Danielle Schinella, Annick Thompson and Kaitylyn Fitzpatrick had key plays during the game for Stamford FC.
