Posted on 03/03/2010
Staff Report STAMFORD -- Mayor Michael Pavia announced Feb. 24 the appointment of Lori Jane Bailey as special assistant to the mayor, humanitarian initiatives. Bailey's volunteer role will be to help execute the mayor's passion to consistently give back to the Stamford community long-term, according to a statement from the mayor's office. "One of the most critical roles a mayor can play is to use the office's influence to do good for the community," Pavia said in the statement. "We're blessed with a lot of commercial and personal abundance in Stamford and I'm asking Lori to help engage the community in giving because there are people in great need. We're in a position to be helpful and we need to take a proactive approach to giving back." Bailey is a partner with Bonnie Wattles in Barn Raising Partners, LLC, a fundraising consulting firm based in Stamford. She has been an avid supporter and volunteer for many organizations, according to the statement from the mayor's office. Most recently, Bailey served on Pavia's 2009 campaign for mayor in its fundraising and grassroots efforts. She has been serving on the Tri-State Finance Committee for Obama since 2007 and serves on several boards of directors, including the Bartlett Arboretum and Gardens and The Long Ridge School. "I'm honored to serve Mayor Pavia's administration in any capacity, particularly this humanitarian role," Bailey said.
