Posted on 03/02/2010
WEST HARTFORD (AP) -- Three Connecticut Republicans running for the U.S. Senate seat now held by Democrat Christopher Dodd are making final preparations for their first formal televised debate. Former Congressman Rob Simmons, former World Wrestling Entertainment CEO Linda McMahon and Fairfield County money manager Peter Schiff are set to square off at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the University of Hartford. The two Democratic candidates, state Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and Mystic businessman Merrick Alpert, debated Monday night at the same location. The debates are sponsored by The Hartford Courant and Fox CT. Tuesday night's event will air live on WTIC-TV. Dodd announced in January that he will not seek a sixth term.
