Dog adoption event


Stamford Animal Control's Love-a-Bull adoption event will be held at Best Friends Pet Care, 528 Main Ave., Norwalk, on Saturday, Feb. 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thirty puppies and adult dogs in need of a home will be up for adoption. Bully Breed Rescue and Outreach to Pets In Need will host the event. Bring your pets for a photo opportunity in front of a lovely Valentine theme backdrop. Food, drink, sale items and door prizes will be available.


Mornings with Mom at Bartlett

Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens, 151 Brookdale Road, Stamford offers Mornings with Mom through Feb. 11 from 10 to 11 a.m. Come to the Arboretum to work on activities, meet plants and animals from our collections, play games and have a good time meeting new families. This class is for parents, caregivers and their children between 18 months to 3 years old. Class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Pay individually or sign up for all classes to receive a discount. 25th annual literary competition


The Friends of Ferguson is sponsoring its 25th annual Stamford Literary Competition for students in grades 3-12.

Students who attend public or private school in Stamford or who live in Stamford are invited to enter original fiction, non-fiction or poetry. Winners are selected in each category by grade level. Last year, a record 570 students submitted their work.

Entry forms are available at the Main Library and branches, through the schools and on the Friends Web site, www.friendsoffergusonlibrary.org. Entries are due by Feb. 12. Winners will be notified by mail in mid April, and will be honored with a reception in late April or early May. For more information contact the Friends of Ferguson Library at (203) 351-8275
