Police investigate hit-and-run accident in Stamford

STAMFORD -- Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident that occurred Thursday night on Richmond Hill Avenue. According to Stamford Police, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a man standing beside a parked vehicle was struck and seriously injured by a passing vehicle, which witnesses described as a silver or gray sport utility vehicle. The driver was described as a Hispanic male, about 25 years old, and he was driving with a passenger who was also described as a Hispanic male. The suspected vehicle was last seen heading west on West Main Street away from Richmond Hill Avenue and police believe it has substantial damage to the right front area. According to police, investigators gathered significant evidence at the scene and are confident of quickly identifying the operator. The victim, a 31-year-old Stamford resident was taken to Stamford Hospital with a serious leg injury, police said, and is reported to be in stable condition.
