STAMFORD -- The Department of Motor Vehicles will close its Stamford satellite office Friday, according to DMV officials.

Located at the Stamford Government Center on Washington Boulevard, the office -- which has been open on Wednesday and Friday only -- is being closed due to budget cutbacks and staff reductions at the DMV from the state's early retirement incentive program, DMV officials stated. Friday is the last day for conducting DMV business there.

The closest DMV office is 12 miles away, located at 540 Main Ave. in Norwalk. The local AAA Stamford office at 623 Newfield Ave. can also renew licenses.
