Malloy to run again for Stamford mayor
Posted on 11/30/2008
STAMFORD (AP) -- Dannel Malloy says he plans to run for re-election as Stamford's mayor next year while still aiming for the Connecticut governor's office in 2010. Malloy won the Democratic endorsement to run for governor in 2006, but lost the primary to New Haven Mayor John DeStefano Jr. DeStefano later lost to Republican Gov. M. Jodi Rell. Malloy has said he wants to run again for governor, but only if Democratic Attorney General Richard Blumenthal declines to seek the spot. The 53-year-old Malloy had been mum on whether he planned to seek a fifth term as Stamford's mayor, but said recently that's his current intention. State House Speaker James Amann is the only Democrat who has officially announced plans to run for governor so far.
