Wright Insurance 1
Soccer Locker posted its second win of the season, defeating Wright Insurance 8-1.
The scoring started early in the first half as Ariana Yepez sent a cross to Becky Norton, who tallied her fifth goal of the season. Forward Justine James then scored twice off of breakaways late in the first half and started the second half with two more quick goals.
Forward Madison Johnson set-up Chloe Feiner with a great pass for Feiner's first goal of the season.
The scoring was completed as Emma Crowley and Jessica Casinelli each scored midway through the second half.
Playing with a full squad for the first time this season, Soccer Locker saw excellent midfield play from Allie Cali and Alex Scarvey while Taylor Salvatore, Amanda Braatz and Jenna Plotzky provided a strong defensive effort.
Division 1 (Co-Ed)
La Sorpresa & Mas 3,
NE Revolution 0
In a close contest, La Sopresa Y Mas defeated New England Revolution by a score of 3-0.
Conor Duffy and Anthony Frangiose scored on beautiful corner kicks. Duffy later added another goal to complete the scoring. Nicole Cubur and Everett Dolan contributed strong midfield and defensive efforts and Henry Dench was outstanding in goal for Sopresa.
Calle Fit 5,
Real Salt Lake 0
In the first quarter, Tevin St. John started off with the first goal, assisted by Jacob Calle. Then St. John scored again unassisted, ending a great first half.
In the second half Dylan Sparks kicked a goal, also unassisted. Calle Fit kept playing hard and Thomas Vanbelle scored the fourth goal.
In the last quarter of the game, St. John scored again, this time assisted by Kevin Spichiger.
Although Real Salt Lake went scoreless against Callefit, great all-around efforts were made by Zachary Welborn, Aaron Langmuir, Rony Orellana and Kayla Zaritsky.
Outstanding defensive moves by AJ Mora and Daniel Pfrommer kept Salt Lake in the game, as well as Josue Medina's goalkeeping.
LA Galaxy 3,
Gutter Bros. 0
This week the LA Galaxy got back to their winning ways by beating Gutter Brothers, 3-0.
Early in the first quarter, Josh Labkoff got a chip shot right over the head of the Gutter Brothers keeper. n the second quarter, a hand ball in the goal box forced a direct penalty kick which Labkoff put right into the upper left corner of the goal for his second goal of the game.
In the fourth quarter, it looked like Gutter Brothers got its first goal of the game. Carlas Nique and Orlando Coronado drove the field, but placed the kick through the side of the net, for what would have been a very exciting goal. Unfortunately, the goal was called back.
In the forth quarter, Labkoff got his third goal of the game with a breakaway run leaving the game 3-0 in favor of the Galaxy.
Galaxy keeper support was provided by Cooper Brill, Griffen Olshan and Lewis Baer. Jason Bria had several good saves in the last quarter for Gutter Brothers.
Other standouts for the Galaxy included Hector Jacinto, Orion Guiffreda, Jose Reyes, Brandon Livesay, and Shrenik Kankaria.
Dental Care Kids 3,
NY Red Bulls 2
The game between team Dental Care Kids and The NY Red Bulls the score was 3-2 for Dental Care Kids. Goals were scored by Jonathan James with three goals while Mark Gjuraj had several amazing first half saves as a goalkeeper.
Good play on defense and offense also came from Santiago Pelaez, Peter Gould, Michael Ortega, Gerson Jacinto and Lenni Zhang.
No information was provided for the Red Bulls.
Girls Division 1
Satellite 2, Chicago Fire 0
In a great game against Chicago Fire, Satellite won 2-0. The goals for Satellite were scored by Erica Stietzel and Shannon McDonough.
The Satellite team had a number of offensive drives that were stopped by Heather Herndon and Zoe Smith, who made key saves as goalkeepers.
Chicago Fire's LeAndra Khaleel was also instrumental in stopping the opposing attacks. Assisting the Satellite team on offense were Charlotte Kriftcher and Jackie Fahey.
Protecting the Satellite goal were Jessica Rubin, Domenika Brice and Alyssa Welles, while Marissa Young was outstanding on defense. Mia LeClerc and Laura Dotta were both involved in key offensive drives for Chicago Fire.
LA Galaxy 1,
Boots Retail 1
Boots Retail and LA Galaxy played a well-fought game that ended in a 1-1 tie.
Boots connected with the net first with a goal by Erica Shaulson that was ruled off-sides. Shaulson followed up with a picture perfect goal that she lofted over the heads of the Galaxy defense and dropped into the back of the Galaxy net.
LA Galaxy's Karina Romero scored the tying goal in the fourth quarter with an impressive overall offensive display by Alex Fischer and Jocelyne Perez.
Mary Clark, Paige Furano, Carlee Gentile, and Jessica Hendry all did an amazing job playing goalie for Boots.
Samantha Chichester, Mary Clark, Erica Shaulson, Kaela Shaulson, and Samantha Erfe all played well offensively for Boots while Madison Day, Paige Furano, Carlee Gentile, Jessica Hendry, and Alexis Terzian provided quality defensive.
Hayley Smith played very well as LA Galaxy's midfielder and goalkeepers Brooke Glatzhofer and Jessica Ostroff defended their goal very effectively with the assistance of Katie Hollenberg, Marley Sklover, Anja Castle and Linnea Caraballo.
DC United 3,
NY Red Bulls 1
Manuela Serna scored the first goal for DC United in the first quarter. Apolline Vincent had an attempt on goal for the Bulls in the second quarter, but did not score, which ended the half at 1-0.
In the second half, the Red Bulls tied-up the game, showing great teamwork. Caitlin Olivetti scored the goal with an assist by Vincent.
It wasn't until Nicole Piperea and Christina Roca scored in the second half that DC United's victory was secured.
Tonianne Ferraro had a strong drive towards the goal but barely missed wide.Katie Cotton also attempted to score for the Bulls.
Cristina Gaia and Riley Griffin continue to show promise as goalkeepers, while Emily Biscoe, Meaghan Cotton and Claire Dardis rounded out the Bulls offense.
DC United welcomed a new player, Abigail Bacon, who helped the team when it needed it most. Strong defense by Casey Watson and other great performances by Andrea Palencia, Christina Roca, Maeve Ronan, and Veronica Vona helped propel DC United to its second victory of the season.
Junior Division
Kiwanis 4,
New England Revolution 1
In a very exciting game played this past Sunday Kiwanis defeated the New England Revolution.
Parker Ward scored first for Kiwanis and was quickly followed by Luke Crowley also for Kiwanis with an assist by Christian De Simone.
The New England Revolution could not get past the strong Kiwanis defenders, Jonah Yu and Jonathon Olivieri, until Shane Brady from New England looped a spectacular kick up and over everyone and directly into goal, much to the delight of the crowd.
Matthew Eldredge scored in the third quarter and Fabiana Bueno scored her first goal of the season for Kiwanis in the last quarter.
DC United 3,
Wolf Laurel 2
In a very close game, DC United pulled out a victory over Wolf Laurel.
Ignited by Nicholas Benalcazar, DC United was able to score three goals over the tough Wolf Laurel defenses. The game was played hard and a few players had to come out of the field due to injuries.
Jake Deleo scored the first goal for Wolf Laurel tying up the game after his team was losing, 1-0. DC United came back with two more goals taking advantage of open field.
Wolf Laurel reduced the score to 3-2 when Samantha Page scored a spectacular goal in the third quarter.
Wolf team players Katie Gaia, Kate Williams, Bill Williams, Samantha Page, Julien Matrullo, Christopher Matrullo, Jake Deleo, Brian Coronado, Rishabh Sahu, Alexe Apostolidis and Tiernan Duffy all performed their best.
