Satellite 6, NY Red Bulls 0
Satellite played its first game of the season and pulled off a terrific win.
Offensively, Satellite players Erica Stietzel (3 goals), Jessica Rubin (2 goals), and Shannon McDonough (1 goal) could not be stopped. Rounding out the Satellie team on all ends were Charlotte Kriftcher, Jaclyn Fahey and Lauren Lazo who all played a terrific game.
Katie Cotton and Meaghan Cotton played well for their first game of the season for the Bulls. Although the Bulls had several attempts at goal, their efforts were fruitless as all shots were blocked in an amazing job by Satellite's Domenika Kelly, Alysa Wells and Amelia Whiteley.
Bulls Cristina Gaia and Riley Griffin continue to exhibit strong kicking skills, soaring the ball downfield. Claire Dardis and Emily Biscoe were tough goalkeepers for the Bulls, but the Satellite players were relentless driving the ball into the goal. Caitlin Olivetti took several hits with the ball, but held her ground midfield for the Bulls, while Tonianne Ferraro played a strong defense and blocked several attempts to get the ball to the goal.
DC United 4, LA Galaxy 3
Despite the weather and low numbers of players it was six-vs.-six both teams played a great game.
LA Galaxy had a very good start, scoring twice in the first quarter. DC United responded with a nice goal by Christina Roca, to reduce the score difference by one.
In the second quarter, LA Galaxy scored after a quick counter attack, making the score 3-1. LA Galaxy had a strong offensive display led by Alex Fischer with two goals, one on a penalty kick, and one on a quick spurt to the goal by Karina Romero.
DC United kept playing hard and came back strong, scoring three goals by Nicole Piperea, Christina Roca, and Gabriella Sanabria.
DC United exhibited strength, both in defense and offense, by all players: Lily Fidelao and Casey Watson shared time in goal and along with Andrea Palencia, Nicole Piperea, Christina Roca and Gabriella Sanabria contributed to DC United's first win of the season.
New England Revolution 2, Boots Retail 2
New England Revolution scored first early in the first half, when Nisha Chandra gained possession of the ball near the end line and angled a shot past the goalkeeper into the far side of the goal.
Chandra's goal was set up by the strong midfield play of Melanie Gorski and Cheyenne Langrin-Delgado.
Boots Retail scored the next two goals to make it 2-1.
Midway through the second half New England midfielder Jairy Sandoval stole the ball and passed forward to Jennifer Gorski, who pushed the ball past several defenders and scored the equalizer with a shot into the right side of the net.
New England defenders Deeshani Patel and Lily Gordon played strong defense throughout the final minutes of the game to prevent any additional goals by the Boots Retail side.
Division 1 Coed
NY Red Bulls 6, LA Galaxy 1
On Saturday May 3, the NY Red Bulls played their first game against the LA Galaxy.
The Red Bull's Lester Guidel was able to navigate through the Galaxy defense and score two goals in the first half and two in the second half. Max Mojica also scored two goals for the Red Bulls.
Just as the buzzer was to sound the end of the game, the Galaxy's Jordan Marchese got his team's only score.
For the Red Bulls, Marcus Russell was very active on offense and defense and Michael Rosinsky played a good game in goal.
Standouts for the Galaxy included Hector Jacinto, Cooper Brill, Jose Reyes and Josh Labkoff.
Strong goaltending was provided by Shrenik Kankaria and Josh Labkoff for the Galaxy.
Chicago Fire 2, Dental Care Kids 2
The Fire saw two outstanding goals, one from Regina Cullen and the other from Connor Denny while Jonathan James scored the Dental Care Kids two goals.
Jack Kalvar was great in goal with an awesome kick save to preserve the tie. The Fire also saw great offensive work from Derin Aguirre, Scottie Davidson and Eklayya Chawla. Alex Grijalva and Adam Piersa played well on defense.
Mark Gjuraj, Lenni Zhang, Simon Pepa and Giancarlo Diez Canseco were standouts for Dental Care Kids.
La Sorpresa Y Mas 5, Real Salt Lake 0
Conor Duffy tallied four goals for La Sorpresa with Anthony Frangiose finishing with a great fifth goal. Nicole Cubur had an outstanding game all round the field, while Henry Dench, Zaire Ragin and Thomas Treussard were excellent in defense for La Sorpresa.
Standouts for Real Salt Lake included Zachary Welborn, Rony Orellana and Daniel Pfrommer. Josue Medina had several amazing saves as goal keeper for Salt Lake.
Calle Fit 5, New England Revolution 0
In the first quarter, Dylan Sparks started off the scoring to fire Calle Fit up. Jacob Calle assisted that goal. In the second quarter Calle Fit came on strong by scoring two more goals by Tevin St. John. They were assisted by Dylan Sparks and Jacob Calle.
In the third quarter, St. John came on strong in the first two minutes of the quarter and scored another goal. Finally in the forth quarter, Dylan Sparks assisted by Alex Lawrie, scored the final goal.
Calle Fit's defense played an unbelievable game to stop New England Revolution for scoring. Klye Berland, Kevin Spichiger, Jacob and Ben Adam also played great with no substitutes.
Girls Div. 2
Soccer Locker 2, LA Galaxy 2
Soccer Locker, playing short-handed again this week, got on the board early in the first half when forward Becky Norton penetrated the Galaxy defense on a sprint down the middle of the field to score her 3rd goal of the season.
The scoring continued when forward Madison Johnson set-up Norton with a nifty crossing pass that Norton squeaked past the goalkeeper for her fourth goal of the season.
The second half started as a physical defensive effort by both teams that saw the Galaxy attacking the Soccer Locker goal with multiple shots. The Galaxy scored both of their goals within the last 10 minutes of the second half.
Soccer Locker was lead by strong goal play by Justine James and Amanda Braatz. Taylor Salvatore and Ariana Yepez played excellent defense with Chloe Feiner controlling midfield. Forwards Allie Cali and Emma Crowley both had very strong games with several shots on goal.
Junior Division
Wolf Laurel 4, Springdale AC 0
The game started with a quick goal scored by Julien Matrullo in the first minutes of the game. Springdale consistently attempted to score in all four quarters but was blocked by Wolf Laurel defenders.
Wolf Laurel's Jake Deleo ended the first quarter with a second goal for the team. In the second quarter, an open shot at the goal by Wolf Laurel's Christopher Matrullo was thwarted by Springdale. Springdale had a breakaway drive but the shot on goal was wide to the left.
Bill Williams and Tiernan Duffy worked offense, while Kate Williams and Katie Gaia played a strong defense during this quarter. Brian Coronado became the third Wolf Laurel player to score.
The third quarter showed a very talented new player Alexe Apostolidis, who teamed up on the attack with Rishabh Sahu and Samantha Page.Brian Coronado scored the final goal in the fourth quarter after back and forth opportunities by both teams in the second half.
