The exhibit, titled "Pivotal Moments: The View from Either Side" will explore questions such as how do certain episodes in an artist's life affect his work and does the art take a different direction or does technique change. The show will highlight how art changes over time.
The exhibit presents multiple pieces by each artist, and show-goers can view work created on either side of a "pivotal moment."
Among the LAA's diverse group of working artists are sculptors, ceramicists, painters, collage artists, metalworkers and audio engineers, who all share space in an industrial building at 845 Canal Street.
An opening reception for the "Pivitol Moments" exhibit will be held at the gallery on Friday, June 6 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Members of the public are invited to attend. The exhibit features the work of David Burt, Ed Esposito, Alan Judelson, John Newcomb, Kevin Robinson, Jeremy Schockley, Kevin Thomas, and Hoby Rosen.
Artists participating in this show will donate 20 percent of all sales to LAA's neighbor, the Shelter for the Homeless, a men's shelter at 597 Pacific Street.
The Loft Artists Association, a nonprofit organization, has resided in the south end of Stamford for over 30 years. This year the group, with the support of Antares Development and Mayor Dannel Malloy, moved to their new home at on Canal Street.
The LAA's gallery hours are Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m. or by appointment.
