Mackenzie Eisen had three goals, with assists by Madison Hendry, to lead Stamford to a 4-2 win over Wakeman in 6th/7th girls lacrosse action on Saturday, May 3.
Stamford also got a goal by Erin Grey, which was assisted by Lindsay Bagwin. All the goals came in the first half.
First-time goalie Jennifer Schumacher did an outstanding job in goal with four saves.
"The young ladies of Stamford really came together as a team. With only one sub, the girls ran their hearts out," said Coach Alexis Gallin.
Also adding to an outstanding game were Lily Schmidt, Jessie Michelotti, Jordan Lyntton-Smith, Lianne Barney, Caroline Grant, Madison Hendry, Becca Shaulson and Colleen Boland.
8th Grade Girls
Stamford Youth Foundation 8th grade girls Lacrosse conquered Wakeman, 8-1, on Saturday, May 3.,
Four goals by Rose Rather, two goals for Lauren Shapiro, and one goal apiece to Megan McGrath and rookie Kassie Montenegro led the scoring.
Assists were recorded by McGrath, Rather, Shapiro, Lizzy Cingari, and Maddy Burns. Ashleigh McGrath was outstanding in goal.
Jaclyn Marr, Cambron Sharnsky, Erin Liberis, Nicole Cook, Chandler Camlin, Carolyn Ruther, Victoria LaBella, Sydney Stenguist, Devon Anastos and Hannah Carlson also showed outstanding contribution to the game.
Coach Maggie Murphy said, "It's great to see these girls working together as a team on the field, I am very proud of their efforts in today's game."
Boys
Trinity/Trailblazers 2, Rippowam 1
The Trinity/Trailblazers team beat Rippowam, 2-1, in overtime on Saturday at Boyle Stadium.
Scoring for Trinity-Trailblazers were Carmine DeRubeis and Kevin O'Reilly with one goal each. Peter Markham was in goal with four saves.
Austin Strongwater scored the lone goal for Rippowam. The defense led by Michael Osborne, Riley Kinahan and Patrick Slocum played outstanding, and Thomas Roberts made ten saves in goal.
Turn of River 6, Scofield 2
James Irvine scored two goals to lead TOR to a 6-2 win over Scofield.
David Engel, Austin Wentworth, Daniel Cunn, and Alec Weir added one goal apiece for the winners. In goal, making eight saves, was Brad Smith.
