13 Conn. post offices on shutdown list

HARTFORD (AP) -- Thirteen Connecticut post offices are on a list released by the U.S. Postal Service for possible shutdown or consolidation.

Offices on the list include branches in Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven and Stamford.

A USPS spokeswoman says the list is part of a study to determine whether the closings and consolidations will save money.

Spokeswoman Maureen Marion says no decision has been made on shutting down the branches on the list, but they are under review.

Marion says the postal service will be looking at customer service, delivery routes, rent, parking lots and many other factors to decide which ones will close.
